ASEAN-EU Year of Science, Technology and Innovation ASEAN-EU Year of Science, Technology and Innovation
The aim of the YoSTI 2012 is to highlight, promote and extend the reach of scientific cooperation between the EU and ASEAN. It will be a year long effort to stimulate interest in, and appreciation of, the processes of science and its benefits to society. By focusing on topics of strategic importance to both regions as well as being of global relevance, the Year will give greater impact and higher visibility of S&T cooperation between ASEAN and Europe. This bi-regional Year of Science, Technology and Innovation was officially launched in November 2011 in Hanoi. It is the first of its kind and will be an important step to building a long-term strategic partnership between ASEAN and Europe.
CNRS - Réseau Asie CNRS - Réseau Asie
On the initiative of a group of researchers, supported by the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research (MENESR), the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), the Foundation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (FMSH), the National Foundation of Political Science (FNSP) and the School of Higher Social Sciences Studies (EHESS), the Asia and Pacific Network was established on the 18th of June 2001. It brings together and connects PhD students, researchers and experts working on fifty countries and regions in Asia and the Pacific — a scientific community of approximately 1,500 people in France.

The Brandenburg University of Technology (German: Brandenburgische Technische Universität - BTU Cottbus) was founded in 1991 as the only technical university in Brandenburg, Germany. Located in Cottbus, in English it is often called Technical University of Cottbus or TU Cottbus. ADETEF is the international technical cooperation consultant and operator for the Economy and Budget ministries. It is the focal point for cooperation initiatives undertaken by these departments that, altogether, have a staff level of 160,000 persons in different fields and jurisdictions (budget, tax, customs, economic policy, management of State capital investments, audit and control). ADETEF’s executive council includes the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development along with the Agence française de développement (AFD - French Development Agency) and the Caisse des dépôts et consignations (Deposit and Consignment Office, in charge of French government sovereign funds).
CSTB CSTB
The Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment (Scientific and Technical Centre for Building) is the French national organisation providing research and innovation, consultancy, testing, training and certification services in the construction industry. Research is at the core of the Scientific and Technical Centre for Building’s activities. Its primary mission is dedicated to developing scientific and technical knowledge relevant to sustainable construction. Academic research and applied research, conducted internally by CSTB’s teams or in association with its partners, contribute to this mission entrusted by the government. Representatives from the government and agencies, scientific organizations, key partners, and representatives of socio-economic construction players work together within its advisory committee. Sharing their vision regarding issues and scientific and technical priorities, committee members contributed to developing the CSTB’s 2011-2020 research roadmap. CSTB organization based on multi-annual scientific projects is important for each of its priorities, providing efficient follow-up for scientific aspects and applying research results: promoting research contracts, expertise, and integrating existing and future needs for assessing and disseminating knowledge.
PADDI PADDI
PADDI is a decentralised cooperation project between the Rhône-Alpes region and the province of Hô Chi Minh City. Since 1997 both local institutions have been developing a bilateral cooperation programme in the fields of training, health and urban management. In 2001, the decision was made to focus on the urban management field. Several feasibility study missions took place, resulting in the association lyonnaise Villes en transition (VeT, Lyonnaise Association of transitional cities) already well established in HCMC, to be chosen as an operator which goals are to determine the contents, the framework and the implementation of a new project: the PADDI - futurology and urban studies centre.

Hungarian Cognitive Science Foundation (MAKOG) The Foundation was formed in 1993 with the purpose to support and facilitate theoretical and practical research as well as education in the cognitive sciences, broadly construed. It endeavors to establish and maintain professional links to Hungarian and international organizations (universities and research institutions, as well as educational institutions such as universities, colleges and programs) to promote activities and to develop relations between organizations in related disciplines in Hungary and abroad. To this end it collects donations and raises grants, and offers fellowships as well as various programs. Besides these, the Foundation has established itself as an intellectual center for international research collaborations inside and outside the domain of cognitive sciences. Its current topical spectrum includes evolution, behavioral science, complex systems, dynamic networks, text and data mining, and policy analysis. In recent years, the Foundation has been running successful educational programs (such as the BSCS, the Budapest Semester in Cognitive Science, www.bscs-us.org), it organized major international conferences (such as Toward a Science of Consciousness in 2007 or ECAL 2009 – www.ecal2009.org, both with ca 200 attendees), participated in major European research projects (notably in the ongoing www.compcog.org, an ESF network, which includes 28 European laboratories where MAKOG is the Hungarian partner), and won several Hungarian national grants (from www.nkth.hu) to support its conference and outreach activities.
